Welcome to the Alcohol Policy Network's electronic discussion group,
The purpose of this listserv is to promote informed discussion about alcohol-related policy and programming issues in Ontario and Canada.
Who can Join?
This listserv has been created for professionals in public health, substance abuse, injury prevention and policy development. However, it is an OPEN list, which means that anyone interested in alcohol policy, including members of the general public, is welcome to join.

Our listserv has over 500 active members, including health promoters, public health nurses, policy-makers, educators, community leaders and industry representatives from across Ontario, across Canada, and beyond. At any given time there is informed discussion about emerging as well as ongoing topics relating to health and safety, alcohol regulation and control, effective prevention practice, and more.
Our bi-weekly Alcohol in the News posting compiles the most relevant news articles relating to alcohol policy from over 60 news sources. The Alcohol Research Digest provides over 40 citations on recently produced research reports and abstracts from journals and publications around the world.
In addition, we have an extensive searchable archive of news articles, research abstracts, and commentary.
We provide hosted discussion topics in conjunction with our quarterly teleconferences, where subject matter experts field questions and provide extensive background information on a topic of particular interest.
Participants are invited to:
- post and discuss the latest alcohol-related news.
- announce and discuss recent or pending changes to alcohol policy in Ontario or Canada.
- post any questions regarding alcohol policy - where to find resources, research questions, etc.
- announce upcoming conferences and exhibitions where alcohol policy colleagues can learn and network.
- share research in the field of public policy, substance abuse, and injury prevention.
- share information on potential sources of funding, or other types of support.
Due to our strict privacy policy, postings over three months old (including our digests and archives) are only available to listserv members.

We wish to use the listserv to encourage open discussion among all participants on alcohol policy issues. Therefore, we feel that it is best to have an unmoderated list. We encourage any participant who feels a message is inappropriate for the purposes of this listserv to contact us immediately.
As anyone is free to post information, it is difficult to completely protect your privacy when you post/respond to the listserv.
Therefore, we have made the decision to allow only the latest three months worth of postings to remain public. The rest of the listserv archives will only be viewable by subscribers. You will be asked to log in using the email address you gave us, and your password. This is mailed to you each month. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact the Website Administrator.
