The Summer 2010 edition of Issues to Watch is now available online. We recap the highlights of the popular 7th Alcohol: No Ordinary Commodity forum, and introduce our next web conference: The Economics of Alcohol Control Policy in Canada. To be held on Thursday, September 23rd, Dr. Gerald Thomas of the Canadian Centre for Substance Abuse will discuss the fundamental economic questions in understanding the effects of pricing policies on alcohol consumption and harm. If you are interested in learning more about how the field of economics and public health converge, register now online.
The latest issue of the Alcohol Research Digest is now posted to the listserv. We also have downloadable PDFs of the back issues of all ARDs available on our website.

APN presented a poster at the recent CPHA Conference entitled “A Policy Perspective to Alcohol Problems”. The Poster aims to demonstrate the importance of policy development as part of a comprehensive health promotion approach, including prevention, screening, early intervention, and treatment of alcohol problems.
APN's most recent research paper, Alcohol and Community-based Violence: A Systematic Review, is now available for download from the website. The report proposed to identify the associated effects of alcohol sales on community-based violence as explained in the existing literature, incorporating journal articles from 1999–2009. If you wish to have hard copies, please use our online order form to specify quantity.
